Combine efficient box storage and expert ventilation to maintain produce quality and minimise weight loss during storage.
Why a suction system?
A suction system gives the best air distribution in your store. The advantage? You need less running hours to get your product dry, and to realise a homogeneous quality. Therefore, you will save energy, and seriously reduce the weight loss due to dehydration.
How does it work?
A suction wall has a suction opening between each 2 rows of boxes. The space between the boxes, and in front of the opening, is called the ventilation duct. It is covered by a suction cover. In the ventilation wall the fans force the air up, creating an underpressure in the wall and in the ducts. This underpressure sucks the air very uniformly through your boxes and product. Any air treatment, such as heating or humidifying, should occur before the air flows through your product. Therefore, air treatment occurs above the product. In a suction system, the inlet and outlet hatches are always placed in the same outside wall. The outlet hatches just above the fans, and the inlet hatches a little higher. Usually APH Group positions the outlet hatches in the same wall.
Suction systems are most commonly used for these products:
• Table and seed potatoes
• Onion (sets)
• Garlic
• Other root crop vegetables
