FurrowJet from Precision Planting is an in-furrow fertilizer delivery and seed-firming solution that places nutrients precisely where young plant roots can access them. Mounted to the row unit’s Keeton firmer bracket, it firms the seed into the trench and applies starter fertilizer in three bands—directly in the furrow and approximately ¾″ on each side, ensuring critical nutrients like phosphorus are available during early root development. This targeted placement mitigates seed burn risk and boosts nutrient uptake compared to conventional broadcast or 2×2 methods.
Field trials conducted from 2018 to 2022 demonstrate that FurrowJet consistently delivers strong returns, with corn trials showing average yield gains of 6.8 to 8.6 bu/acre and a return on investment of $23 to $30 per acre. Compatible with a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, cotton, peanuts, and sunflowers, it can be integrated with precision fertilizer rate control systems like vApplyHD and monitored via the 20|20 display.
